wait list FAQ
How soon may I put my child on the waitlist?
You may complete a waitlist application as soon as you have a confirmed due date.
Can I apply if I am trying to get pregnant?
We do not accept applications prior to conception.
What happens to my application in the case of pregnancy loss?
Please complete the ‘waitlist information update’ form on our website.
Can I apply if my child requires additional support?
We offer an inclusive service here at Maven Lane. We recognize that children have varying needs. If your child has ever been recommended to see a specialist, or has in the past received support, or is recommended to support, please note this in your application. It is important that we can meet the needs of your child in our programming and with our staffing. We want to be sure to set everyone up for success.
Can we apply if we are adopting and don’t know when our child will arrive?
Please indicate the age you anticipate your child will be at the time of adoption. When the adoption is fulfilled, please complete the ‘update waitlist information’ form with your child’s date of birth. To ensure the is no advantage or disadvantage to families, the application date will be adjusted to 9 months prior to the birth date or to the application date, whichever is later.
How many waitlists do you have?
Although we have multiple locations, we have only one waitlist.
Do you offer priority placement on the waitlist?
Yes, in the following order:
- adherence to licensing obligations
- employee’s children
- vulnerable populations (as defined by MCFD)
- siblings
How long is the waitlist?
The length of the waitlist is different for each age group. Due to high demand and shortage of service, the under 3 (9-36 months) full day programs have the longest waitlist. Although we offer more 3-5 and School Age spaces, we still have substantial waitlists.
Can you tell me what position I am in on the waitlist?
There are many factors that affect a waitlist application. Priority placements will change your position, so numbers given out can become inaccurate… and this leads to disappointment.
What is the quickest way to get a space?
Spaces are offered in chronological order. The only exceptions are our priority placements.
Are part time spaces available more frequently than full time spaces?
Typically, yes. It is advisable to take the part-time space as currently enrolled members receive priority placement over waitlisted children; therefore, this is the quickest route to your desired childcare needs.
Does it take longer for twins to have childcare at Maven Lane than single children?
Two spaces being available at the same time typically only happens for September enrolment. Yes, it is harder to enrol twins together.
When my children are on the waitlist, do they get waitlisted for a specific centre or are they offered the first available spot at any centre operated by Maven Lane?
Spaces will be offered according to location requested, on a first come first served basis. If you do not want a space in the program offered, you may turn it down and maintain your chronological order. If you turn down three offers, we will remove you from the waitlist and invite you to re-apply at your convenience.
If my child is 1 year old at the time of registering on the waitlist, will they automatically move up to the 3-5 waitlist when they are 3 years old?
All waitlist applications are filed in chronological order. If your child ages out of one age group, your application is automatically moved to the next group, maintaining your chronological order.
How will you contact me if space becomes available?
Our enrolment coordinator will contact you via email.
How much time do I have to respond?
You will have 24 hours to respond.
If I am offered a space and I turn it down, will I lose my position on the waitlist?
No, however, after turning down three spaces offered, we will remove your application, and invite you to reapply at your convenience.
Why can’t my child have a space their sibling is leaving?
Although siblings receive priority placement, priority spaces are also offered in chronological order.
Will I be offered a space if I am next in line, but my child does not meet the age requirements on the date the space will be available?
You will be offered a space provided your child will be within two months of the program age requirements. Should you decline the space, your child will remain on the waitlist in chronological order.
